Quite a common problem unfortunately. When the MMI looses sight of the gps signal, it attempts to guesstimate your position. Assuming you've not unplugged anything, replacement of the antenna is the solution. If you purchase from the dealer they come in primer, so you would need to paint. DON'T PANIC!! It just means that the navigation is not guiding you to a destination. Hence the "not active" message. Select some destination, start the route, and once it's calculated, hit the Nav/info button. You hear the difference. I would like to update the sat nav maps/MMI in my 2018 A6 Avant (C8). My car is booked in for an oil service at an Audi dealership soon but when I asked them if they could update the sat nav maps they said it would be about an hours labour which I was surprised by (I thought access to free software update was one of the advantages of servicing In MMI go to; Menu/Settings/System Maintenance (left control button)/System Update.. The MMI screen will prompt to select what you want to do and once the source is selected then 'prepare' the download and then begin installation and verification. Takes a few minutes depending on the size of the download. Simple. The first issue led to the second one. Recently when inputting a destination (postcode entry via voice) it would find the postcode but then tell me “no street available for *****” so is have to just navigate to the centre of the postcode. I updated to the latest maps which didn’t fix it so I decided to reset the navigation to see if that

craigyb. You already have a navigation system then, as that is the RNS-E to me. You need a new 2007 or 2008 DVD navigation disk for the nav system to work, if you press the button next to the volume control the screen will drop down where you can insert the DVD. Mods to do: B&O retrofit.

Bruce, I did in fact resolve this issue, I found that that compass was facing incorrectly 180 degrees to which the software and maps update didn’t resolve. However it did lead me to believe the antenna itself was faulty. I replaced this with a none factory gps antenna and hid it behind the dash and went for a drive. My car has sd slots and dvd but was told by Audi my car sat nav only works from dvd, I assume the sd slots are for music files or something. Anyway I brought a 2019 map dvd from this website and it works a charm with no issues. Cost £19.99. It may be of use to you. Good luck!
